1. What does your full interior design service entail? Kaïsa Design Studio offers design services for complete home furnishings in just about any type of dwelling. This includes pre-construction strategy (where applicable), space planning, kitchen and bath design, custom cabinetry, color & lighting selection, material specifications, and more! Our design process begins with a free 15-minute discovery call to ensure that we're a good fit. If so, we'll follow up with a paid 2-hour design consultation in the proposed project location where we get to see the room(s) you are interested in transforming, and gain insight into your vision for the completed project.
2. What services do you offer your clients? Kaïsa is able to provide options for custom furniture, cabinetry, fabrics, wall coverings, floor coverings and light fixtures that are only available to the trade. In addition, if your project requires construction, we will also use our project management skills to ensure this process moves smoothly, on time and within budget.
3. Which room do I select first in an open-floor plan? We strongly suggest that you plan a redo for both spaces. Spaces which open into one another tend to feel like a single space, and it’s not possible to truly transform the look without taking into consideration everything your eye sees in its single view. The most common occurrence is a combo living-dining room; we suggest to do the entire space for both.
4. Can some of my existing furniture pieces be used? Certainly. As much as possible, we try to incorporate your own purchases and special finds to provide clients a personalized and affordable interior makeover, as long as these pieces work within the overall design style.
5. How do I know what my budget should be like? As Kaïsa designers, we will work with you to create a realistic budget for each space, based on your needs and taste. We pride ourselves in being honest and up front with our clients about realistic costs of designing and furnishing a room.
6. Do you work within the budget given? Of course! We can work within just about any budget. That being said, our ability to create a dramatic transformation will be determined by what you’ve set aside for the project, the extent of your preference for designer vendors only (expect to spend more) or retail vendors only (expect to spend less.)
7. Will you make changes if I don’t like something? Absolutely! That's why we have a session called Design Presentation. This is when we present to the client a simulation of the designed space. You can change the fabric, color, furniture, or accessories of the space. This re-selection by the client comes at no additional cost.
8. Can I purchase any design service as a gift? Absolutely! You can purchase design services for a room or an entire home as a gift. Our design services are fabulous housewarming or newlywed gifts, and much more! Consult our e-Gift card page.
9. How do you work? We want every space we design to be a reflection of our client’s taste, family, collection, aspirations, and anything else that matters to you. No project is too big or too small. We will work with you to achieve an end result that is surprising, comfortable, on time and within budget.
10. In what locations do you offer services? We provide in-person interior design services in the DC Metropolitan area, and exceptionally in Cameroon. Home staging and home organizing services are exclusive to the DC Metropolitan region. However, our e-Design services are available in all continents, especially in North America, Europe, and Africa.
11. What type of spaces do you work on? We work on single-family homes, apartments, town-houses, small to mid-size offices, and private label hotels.
12. How do you determine pricing? Each project is unique and will require different tasks and time. After our design consultation session, we will submit a proposal to you detailing the scope of work with an estimated budget for the FF&E and our associated design fee. In general, our larger projects have a flat fee per room design, and smaller scale projects will be billed at an hourly rate.
